Lipstick Queen Endless Summer Collection Review

I have a new obsession. Lipstick. One time I hated lipstick. It tastes horrible, it highlights every single crack and dry spot on my lips, and it feels entirely too dry. I have tried tons of them in hopes that one day I would find one and actually be able to add some color to my makeup routine, but they always ended up being a complete failure and were tossed somewhere in the back of my bathroom cabinet. About a month ago, I invested in a lipstick set by Lipstick Queen. While they turned out to not be my favorite colors of all time, they were EXACTLY what I wanted in a lipstick. They were moisturizing, sheer, not sticky,  and didn’t settle into the lines in my lips at all. They also weren’t lipstick flavored, or any other flavor. My dreams had finally come true. I found a lipstick that wasn’t like a lipstick. My tinted lip balm days are over!

I immediately began stalking cosmetics websites looking for more Lipstick Queen sets that were more my style when I stumbled across the 60s surf-inspired Endless Summer collection at Ulta. “Sheer nude”, “bright coral”, and “punchy pink”? Are they reading my mind? Those are the colors I like wearing the most! While they are not sold in a set, I had to have all of them right away for $22 each.

As you can see, the colors are very sheer and you can build them to whatever your preference is. From left to right: Stoked, Hang Ten, and Perfect Wave. Like the other Lipstick Queen lipsticks I have, these have a nice, smooth texture. They contain UV-A and UV-B filters and are enriched with natural oils, candelilla wax, and vitamin E to protect and care for the lips.

Stoked is a reddish coral. I find this perfect for me because RED reds are overwhelming on me. This brings out the best peachy-pink tones in my skin. While the application is smooth and moisturizing and there aren’t any issues with it highlighting any dryness, it tends to make my lips feel VERY dry after an hour or so. I find myself constantly having to reapply to keep my lips from feeling chapped. Note: I sip on a water bottle throughout the day, so I have to reapply lip color pretty frequently anyway, but usually don’t experience the dryness that I did with this color.

Hang Ten is probably my favorite out of the whole collection (although they are all my favorites) because it feels like a regular lip balm the entire time I’m wearing it and doesn’t dry my lips once it’s worn off. This is a great 60s-looking nude that actually works on me. Most are usually too peach and end up looking ridiculous. This one settles into dry areas a TINY bit, but not enough for me to be mad about it. It usually evens out if I press my lips together enough times. My only major problem with this color is that it has that bitter lipstick flavor. Regardless, it will probably find a home in my purse because it’s easy to put on without having a mirror and looks nice and natural.

Perfect Wave is the PERFECT, cool-toned, bright pink, color I’ve always dreamed of. It is similar to Stoked as far as application goes, but it isn’t drying. You can build this one up to a high intensity, or keep it nice and mellow with just one swipe. Unfortunately, this one also is lipstick flavored.

While I’m not as impressed with the quality of the Endless Summer collection as I was with my first Lipstick Queen set, I love all three colors. They are all colors I seek out the most and they flatter my complexion perfectly. If it weren’t for the lipstick flavor in Hang Ten and Perfect Wave and the dryness from Stoked, they would seriously be my all-time favorite lip colors.

    These look beautiful on you!
I recommend trying The Vivids by Maybelline. They’re a little scary looking in the tube, but The Vivids in Shocking Coral looks a lot like Perfect Wave, and Vibrant Mandarin is so similar to Stoked. The formula is dewy and never drying, and the price point is a damn sight more accessible for me. Try em!

    • They are my colors, man! I want those. Especially if they aren’t lipstick flavored. Maybelline is that brand that gave me eye disease when I used their mascara, so I’ve been afraid to try anything else for a while now. I’ll have to check them out. I’ve yet to find a drugstore brand that hasn’t made me want to punch something for wasting $7-10.

I think we must’ve been allergic to a chemical component in that stupid mascara. Dammit. I shudder when I walk past that stuff.
Do try the Vivids – they don’t really taste like anything. I hate that chalky lipstick taste that migrates to the back of my throat… ugh.

        • It was only the waterproof one that made my eyes super itchy. I won’t go near it. And I totally lied. When I reached for one of my Baby Lips lip balms this morning, I realized it was Maybelline. I space out when I buy drugstore products. I have to keep a picture on my phone of what brand and color foundation I use because I will forget every single time. I guess you could say some of the Baby Lips colors are also a similar, affordable alternative to the Endless Summer lipsticks. They are less pigmented and some of them have a bad taste, but I love carrying them in my purse because I don’t need a mirror to put them on.
