I’ll be honest. As I was taking pictures of the packaging and swatches of my new Fresh Sugar Rose Lip Treatment, I thought, “What am I doing? I’m never going to review this. It’s JUST lip balm. It’s going to end up in the bottom of my purse just like all the others”. Fortunately for this lovely little lip balm, I’ve had a very busy month, which resulted in me not wearing makeup this entire week because I’ve had a million things to catch up on that I’ve been putting off. This was one of those purchases where I saw it while I was waiting in the checkout line at Sephora and tossed it into my basket at the last minute. What can I say? I’m a sucker for fancy packaging and it smelled like delicious, lemony sugar. It was also my birthday, so my pockets were feeling kinda heavy.
When I got home, I was immediately upset because I could not, for the life of me, get the dang thing open. I couldn’t believe I had just splurged on a $22.50 lip balm that wouldn’t even open. I felt so stupid. I felt even more stupid when I finally figured out I was supposed to unscrew the lid and then pull it off. I guess that keeps it safe, in case you have the tendency to jostle things around a lot. I swatched it and was disappointed it wasn’t any more pigmented than I had expected. It’s an extremely sheer, barely visible, rosy color on my pale wrist. There is hardly a difference between this and my natural lip color. Meh, I thought. I put it on the ledge below my mirror in the bathroom and figured I’d use it before bed every night at the very least. I used it that night and was impressed by how hydrated my lips felt. It actually feels like it’s penetrating through the dry areas of my lips without feeling sticky or heavy. I live in an extremely dry, windy climate, so I had given up all hope of having anything better than chronically chapped lips. I awoke the next morning to find my lips still feeling nice and soft. I wore it all week long, and my lips actually look fuller and healthier and the dry patches are completely gone. It lasts an incredibly long time before I have to reapply it, unlike pretty much every single lip balm I’ve ever used. Nothing beats this. NOTHING. I was happy to see that there are several other colors available on Sephora’s website, so I’ll definitely have to check them out. Overall, I’m very impressed and ecstatic that there is something out there that does more than just mask the dryness on my lips. Amazing find!
