Review: Paul & Joe Color Powder in Inseparables

PAUL & JOE Limited Edition Color Face Powder in Inseperables

Paul & Joe Color Powder in Inseparables

Since I’ve started this blog, I’ve been so focused on trying to review things from mainly Sephora and Ulta since they are easily accessible to me that I haven’t bothered much with what exists outside of those realms. Lately I’ve been bored, though, so I wandered off the beaten path and stumbled across this little beauty at Urban Outfitters for $30.

Ugh. Do we even need to talk about why I needed this or are we all pretty clear on the definition of ADORABLE? This Paul & Joe Color Powder in Inseparables is housed in a round pink cardboard box covered in pelicans and comes with a tiny, super soft brush that fits perfectly inside.

The blush has a peach and a coral shade that can be worn individually or blended together. You know I love my peaches and corals. It is extremely pigmented and creamy, so it blends beautifully and just a touch goes a long way. It contains a hint of shimmer to give off a subtle, warm glow, adding life and dimension to your cheeks.

Here’s how it looks:

I was surprised this blush was so tiny compared to others I own that are similar in price. Thinking I overpaid for such a small amount, I checked the bottom of the box and found the value per ounce ran a little high, but not as high as some others I own.

For comparison:

Paul & Joe Color Powder-0.21 oz, $30 or $142.86/oz

NARS Blush- 0.16 oz, $30 or $187.50/oz

Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush-0.19 oz, $30 or $157.89/oz

Benefit Cosmetics-0.25 oz, $28 or $112/oz

Kat Von D Everlasting Blush-0.25 oz, $25 or $100/oz

Overall, I love this blush with all my heart and soul, but it does have the tendency to give my cheeks that fake carrot tan look if I overdo it. It happens with fair skin and a blush that has great color payoff. I might have been better off with the one that has pinker shades in it, but the pelicans drew me in. I love that the box is tiny enough to carry in my purse without being a pain. The brush is good enough quality that I probably won’t even throw it away like I do with so many others, so it’s ideal for carrying around for touch-ups. I also like the box. I like the box a lot. I don’t want to ruin your life (or your bank account) or anything, but the prints on all of their products are just as charming.

When saw this on Robyn’s blog, I wanted iti badly! I just can’t justify the price point. But man, that company knows how to market. I want a dress in this pattern.

    • No kidding! I am seriously in love with the prints, but it gets expensive when you have to spend an additional $10 on a case for most of their products. I was okay with getting this one since I didn’t have to buy anything extra for it to be complete. They actually made a dress in this pattern, but it was released in 2012, so I don’t know if it’s available anymore. Plus, it was probably also $3569423424254 dollars. It looks like everything in their clothing line ranges from about $500-1000. Ridiculous.

That’s insane! I like to think even if I could afford thousand dollar dresses I wouldn’t buy ’em. They better be lined with pure gold or something, in addition to being adorable.
